A Thread of Cool Creators
-
It can be hard to get noticed on Youtube. YouTube wants their creators to pump out as much content as possible, for as long as possible. As a consequence, many channels focusing on video essays can have a hard time appeasing the algorithm, since it can take weeks if not months to put out a high quality video. It pains me to see creators pour their heart and soul into a video for it to only be overshadowed by low effort content.
I have always said that the best thing we can do to give these creators the attention they deserve is to share their content with our friends, family, and others. And that is what this thread is all about. Is there a small creator you follow who deserves more attention? Tell us about them in this thread.
I guess I will start by mentioning Jacob Geller. Somehow this dude has less than 1,000 subscribers but he makes some of the best gaming videos on YouTube. His videos are usually about 10 minutes long, but those 10 minutes are packed with so much it is insane. These videos encapsule the experience of playing a game, and why games are so special. Whether he is talking about Mario, or Ico, or Night in the Woods, or Universal Paperclips, his videos always leave me with a new appreciation for these games. Honestly his own videos will do a better job selling themselves than I ever could. His most recent video on Mario Galaxy is probably a good introduction to his content. Please check this dude out.

Thought about how to post some others to check out here, gonna try just going en masse and posting channels + a good video from a lot of people I've been watching lately that definitely deserve some attention:

Chris Chapman
Retrohistories: The Battle of Manchester Cathedral(not gonna lie I though Chris here had at least 100k subscribers before going to fetch this video. This Resistance video has easily some of the best transitions of any video essay from last year. It's amazing and I can't believe it hasn't even been watched 1000 times yet.)
Daryl Talks Games
How Speedrunners Make It Look Easy | Psych of Play
(his Psych of Play series is really good. As someone who's really interested in psychology and wish they had the time to know more, this series does a great job of introducing topics in the context of gaming, making it really digestible)Patrick Holleman
